Whether you participate in our facility program or in a home program, you are supported by the Cardiac Rehab Team in order to exercise safely. You will be offered exercise sessions, tailored to your needs, twice a week for three months. In addition, you will receive education and access to information to help you manage your cardiac condition and reduce your risk factors. You will be asked to complete an exercise stress test and assessment with our Cardiac Rehab team prior to starting your exercise program.
There is no cost to you to participate in this program.
Exercise sessions are held at the YMCA Health, Fitness & Aquatics facility, located in the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre in Owen Sound. You may also have the option of a home exercise program, if distance or timing prevents you from attending exercise classes in the YMCA facility. Your Cardiac Rehab team will talk with you about this option.
You may be referred to this program upon discharge from hospital by your specialist or you can request a referral from your Physician or Nurse Practitioner. Upon receiving your referral, a member of the Cardiac Rehab team will contact you with an invitation to attend an orientation session.
