Working in partnership with the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, ours is the largest Special Olympics Swim Team in Ontario. The program is designed for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Participants use the water to improve coordination, mobility and endurance, but most of all, to have fun!
School age and adults swimmers have the opportunity to participate in regional meets. An accessible change area with an overhead sling and adjustable table, accessible showering facilities, pool entry ramps and aquatic wheelchairs are available to help swimmers into the pool if needed. Pictured at right is our coach, Dianne Speed (red shirt) with the eleven members of our Special Olympics team who competed at the provincial level in 2016. We're proud to say all eleven athletes came home with medals!
