Leisure Links Program Assistant

Job Description:

General

  • Serve as a positive role model
  • Actively promote CMHA programs through community presentations
  • Participate in staff, planning and interagency meetings
  • Prepare and submit reports as required
  • Maintain petty cash records
  • Strong culinary background
  • Plan and prepare brunch daily / create menu on a budget
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to (storage of food, etc.)
  • Daily maintenance of program areas and offices (general tidiness, organized appearance)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Leisure Links Site Coordinator or designate

 

Social Recreation

  • Develop, organize and provide consumer-centered social, recreational, and leisure programs through the service area
  • Assist in the development of a monthly activity calendar in conjunction with program participants
  • Monitor needs of individuals and groups on an ongoing basis
  • Advocate on behalf of participants when necessary
  • Assist the site coordinator in maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Facilitate drop-in activities
  • Support consumer-survivors initiatives
  • Develop and schedule volunteers
  • Work with the principles of psycho-social rehabilitation

Minimum Requirements / Work Experience:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS • Excellent communication

Other Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS • College diploma/certificate in Psychosocial Rehabilitation is an asset • Safe Food Handling certificate or willingness to complete this training • Current CPR and First Aid certification • Valid driver’s license and use of a reliable car • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate • Completion of Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) are assets • Ability to lift 40 lbs
