Summary of position

The Gluer Operator sets up and operates gluing equipment with minimal make-ready time that results in a high quality product running at optimum speed.   The Gluer Operator is the last person to handle the finished products prior to delivery to the customer, therefore quality assurance is very important to this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate gluing equipment.
  • Ensure code bar scanner is set and functional.
  • Monitor glue pots maintaining adequate glue levels in reservoirs.
  • Continually inspecting cartons for proper quality.
  • Purge gluers at the end of every production run.
  • Assist the Feeders and Packers in their roles as time permits.
  • Ensure maintenance on machinery is completed and report deficiencies.
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies and lean processes.
  • Assist with stage stock and corrugate throughout production run.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Key qualifications

Experience and Education (diploma, degree, or professional designation):

Minimum high school diploma.

2-4 years experience as a Gluer Operator preferably within the printing/packaging industry is a requirement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Mechanically inclined, good eye/hand coordination and colour acuity.
  • Attention to detail and excellent quality standards
  • Perform well under pressure, excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Advanced skills in learning new technology, excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
