Assistant Events Coordinator

Community Improvement Partnership

Job Description:

The Community Improvement Partnership (C.I.P.) of Hanover requires two Assistant Event Coordinators (8 week positions)

C.I.P. is a joint initiative between the Hanover Chamber of Commerce, Hanover Downtown Improvement Area and the Town of Hanover committed to the promotion and enhancement of economic activity and quality of life for the business community and residents.

The Assistant Event Coordinator will play an important role in the planning and implementation of this summer’s Sights & Sounds Festival. The ideal candidate will possess strong relationship building and customer service skills, leadership, excellent communication skills, community engagement, management and organizational capabilities. This position may be of particular interest to students in event management, marketing and advertising, fundraising or public relations programs.


Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the CIP Coordinator, the Assistant Event Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Act as a liaison between the Sights & Sounds Committee and the public
  • Plan and implement programs at the festival for youth and families
  • Organize, coordinate and distribute promotional information to local businesses
  • Assist with registration details and the purchase/distribution of event tickets, VIP packages etc.
  • Attend committee meetings as required and assist with meeting preparation, implementation and follow up
  • Assist with event day logistics
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Details

  • 8 week position – Projected date: June 18-August 10, 2018
  • 30 hours per week
  • Extended hours required July 16-20, and July 23-29, 2018
  • $14.00 per hour
  • Weekends and some evenings required – hours to be scheduled on a weekly basis

Minimum Requirements / Work Experience:

Eligible applicants must • possess a valid driver’s license and updated criminal record check; • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; • have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
