Job Description:

Owen Sound based Health Team Clinic is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Medical Office Assistant to join their team. The Medical Office Assistant performs administrative and/or clinical tasks to support the work of physicians and other health professionals. This position is expected to run until the beginning of April, with the possibility of a permanent position based on candidate success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Ensuring physician productivity by maintaining calendars and scheduling patient appointments
  • Assisting in effective communication between physicians and patients
  • Managing patient referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations and diagnostic imaging; tracking referrals and following up on consult notes
  • Organizing correspondence by answering phone calls, sorting and distributing mail, scanning paper and electronic records or faxes, and faxing and mailing correspondence
  • Performing other related duties within the clinic may as assigned

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and specialized vocabulary as required
  • Computer proficiency including office software, medical record management software (Experience with PS Suite EMR is an asset)
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients; medical and clinic staff and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Medical Office Admin Diploma considered an asset

This role would be a great fit for any candidate with experience as a medical office assistant, medical receptionist, medical administrator, or medical practitioner.
