YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Receives Jumpstart Grant for Lifeguard and Instructor Training
Owen Sound, ON, May 8, 2023 – The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive a grant from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart). The grant will be used to train candidates to become certified lifeguards and instructors, in order to meet the increasing demand for swimming lessons and promote water safety across the region.
“We are thrilled to have been chosen as a recipient of this valuable grant,” said Sarah Cowley, CEO of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce. “This funding will allow us to train more lifeguards and instructors, which will enable us to provide high-quality swimming instruction to even more members of our community. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in Owen Sound and Grey Bruce has the opportunity to learn essential water safety skills and enjoy the many benefits of swimming.”
Jumpstart is a national charity committed to helping families overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and play. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped over 3.1 million kids in Canada get off the sidelines and into the game.
