Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day

Thursday, October 21st is the 21st annual Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day. This year we will be celebrating our Early Learning and Child Care Heroes and calling on the government to say yes to the Roadmap to Universal Child Care in Ontario which sets out our vision and our shared path forward for Ontario child care.

Sponsored by Ontario’s labour movement, the day draws attention to the value of ECEs and Child Care Workers in communities. It is also a great opportunity to call for better wages, working conditions and support for these workers.

This year’s appreciation day is especially important as Grey Bruce, along with much of Canada, faces a labour shortage that has impacted an already struggling childcare industry. Many Child Care Workers and ECEs have worked throughout the pandemic under strict and ever-changing guidelines to provide a safe place for our children to learn and grow.

Let’s all give thanks to these resilient and special people by showing them our appreciation on October 21st. Give a special note, a card or show them you care on social media by adding #ThankAnEducator to your post.

The contributions that ECEs and Child Care Workers make every day in our communities is amazing and we want them to be recognized for it!
