Job Description:

DATES REQUIRED:
Interviewing April – May. Training begins in June 2021. Program runs until September 3, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Supervisor; Youth & Recreation, Junior Camp Leaders are responsible for assisting with on-site supervision and daily operation of the 2021 YMCA Summer Day Camps.  Leader responsibilities include assisting with daily supervision of children, ensuring their safety and happiness, providing a positive environment; building positive relationships between participants, parents and staff; creating an environment of cooperation and friendliness while ensuring growth and development of participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Standard First Aid, CPR level C and AED certification is preferred
  • Experience working with children 0-12 years of age
  • Applicants 18 years of age or older: successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Police Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check issued no later than 90 days preceding start date
  • Knowledge of a wide range of sports and leisure activities is an asset
  • Previous experience in a day camp setting preferred

 

LOCATION: YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Alexandra Community School

HOURS:

June: approximately 35 hours of training

July and August: 5 days per week; 8 hours per day (may fluctuate based on camper registration)
