Job Description:

SUPPORT WORKER: 32 hr Regular Part Time (2 positions)

 

1. Position Overview:

The Support Worker will split their work hours, committing 16 hours a week to provide guidance and support to the 5 tenants of the apartment setting and the balance of the other 16 hours will be dedicated to elected supported homes. You will be consistently active with people, encouraging their wellness, safety, participation and goals within their plans and will help provide solutions to barriers impacting achievement of quality of life. The Support Worker will be committed to creating a sense of well-being, belonging and independence for the people involved.

 

Location:               Owen Sound, ON

Hours:                   32 hours per week, rotating shifts (flexibility is necessary)

Hourly Wage:        $20.83

 

1. Position Overview:

The Support Worker’s role in the residential setting is to recognize the value that every individual contributes to our community and to making each day meaningful. The Support Worker will have the ability to provide life skills support at varying levels depending on the individuals’ needs, encourage life -long learning; along with promoting positive self-worth is the everyday focus.

Hours:                                 32 hours a week, with 4 week schedule rotation

Hourly Wage:                     $20.83

 

Qualifications:

• A formal knowledge of developmental disabilities. This knowledge would typically be acquired by obtaining a Developmental Services Worker diploma or 2-year related Community College diploma.
• Preference will be given to a candidate with a minimum of 3 months experience in a residential setting who has knowledge (Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker or Social Services or equivalent education) and experience in supporting persons with a dual diagnosis within the adult sector.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate and Non Violent Crisis Intervention certificate. Training can also be provided for successful hires.
• Have a minimum of three months of work related experience in the provision of direct support for people with developmental disabilities and mental health.
• Personal resilience combined with a compassionate, insightful perspective fostering a steady commitment to the individuals’ emotional, behavioural and mental health profiles.
• Knowledge and experience in assisting in the development and implementation of Behavioural Support Plans in co-operation with support networks.
• Show initiative in planning, organizing and implementing activities that are meaningful to the person, utilizing community supports where possible.
• Ability to work and contribute in a team atmosphere
• Demonstrate a positive work performance
