The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Awsman Group Inc. are excited to announce their partnership and vision to strengthen the fabric of Owen Sound’s downtown core. The YMCA is embarking on a strategic consolidation effort, aimed at bringing all administrative employees, referred to as “Association Services,” and the majority of Community Initiatives & Employment Services staff under one roof, which will improve efficiency and be more economical for the charity.

This Strategic Plan aims to bring about positive and lasting changes in the lives of the communities it serves, placing the people it serves at the very heart of its mission, and endeavoring to create a more inclusive, responsive, and effective approach to community and program development.
New Kincardine – Child Care opens in St. Anthony’s Catholic School
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board (BGCDSB) are excited to announce that the renovations at St. Anthony’s Catholic School are complete, and the new YMCA Child Care – Kincardine is ready to open. The current Kincardine YMCA Child Care facility, which is now 18 years old, will be relocating to the newly renovated school on November 1, 2023.

The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce has been awarded $46,547 from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund to adapt and modernize infrastructure within the facilities to improve processes, productivity, and safety.
Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day
This day recognizes the commitment, skills and hard work of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and staff who work with young children. Each year, the day is proclaimed by the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), municipalities and school boards across Ontario, and is marked by hundreds of child care centres, unions, and allies.

Statement on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30, 2023, is the third annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as Orange Shirt Day. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the thousands of Indigenous children lost to the residential school system, Survivors, and their communities.
