YMCA Association Services, Community Initiatives & Employment Services to move under one roof in downtown Owen Sound
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Awsman Group Inc. are excited to announce their partnership and vision to strengthen the fabric of Owen Sound’s downtown core. The YMCA is embarking on a strategic consolidation effort, aimed at bringing all administrative employees, referred to as “Association Services,” and the majority of Community Initiatives & Employment Services staff under one roof, which will improve efficiency and be more economical for the charity.
YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Unveils New Strategic Plan to Enhance Community Wellbeing
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is excited to announce the launch of a new Strategic Plan 2023-2027: Positioning for the Future. This Strategic Plan aims to bring about positive and lasting changes in the lives of the communities it serves, placing the people it serves at the very heart of its mission, and endeavoring to create a more inclusive, responsive, and effective approach to community and program development.
New Kincardine – Child Care opens in St. Anthony’s Catholic School
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board (BGCDSB) are excited to announce that the renovations at St. Anthony’s Catholic School are complete, and the new YMCA Child Care – Kincardine is ready to open. The current Kincardine YMCA Child Care facility, which is now 18 years old, will be relocating to the newly renovated school on November 1, 2023.
YMCA Member Experience Survey
At the YMCA, we want everyone who comes to our centres of community to find the support and spaces they need to meet their health and well-being goals. To better understand if our YMCA is meeting the needs and expectations of our members, we are conducting a YMCA Member Experience Survey.
YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce receives Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce has been awarded $46,547 from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund to adapt and modernize infrastructure within the facilities to improve processes, productivity, and safety.
Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day
This day recognizes the commitment, skills and hard work of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and staff who work with young children. Each year, the day is proclaimed by the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), municipalities and school boards across Ontario, and is marked by hundreds of child care centres, unions, and allies.

Statement on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30, 2023, is the third annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as well as Orange Shirt Day. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the thousands of Indigenous children lost to the residential school system, Survivors, and their communities.
What Can You Do on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation?
September 30 was declared a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by the Canadian government in 2021 to commemorate those who died within these state- and church-run institutions. The date was chosen to coincide with the Indigenous led Orange Shirt Day, which has been observed since 2013.
