YMCA Healthy Kids Day



Raising healthy children is a community effort, and the YMCA is your community partner in nurturing the potential of our youth.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a free annual community event hosted by YMCAs coast to coast. This day places special emphasis on how healthy living can be fun and providing families with simple activities and resources to live healthy every day.  Our YMCA is your partner in healthy living as a family. You can start here: try these Healthy Active Tips for staying healthy with your family!

Next Healthy Kids Day: Sunday, April 30, 2017

Please note all activities are meant to be enjoyed by both children and their adult companions.  Children must be directly accompanied by an adult who is actively participating in the day's events. 

12:45 PM:  Puppet show presented by Canadian Mental Health Association

1 – 4:00 PM:  Special activities for families
     With stations run by Grey Bruce Health Unit Healthy Smiles Program, YES Chiropractic,the Canadian Mental Health Association and the YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness program

1 – 3:00 PM: Free Rec Swim (both pools)  
Lane pool will have a few lanes reserved to allow for Lifesaving Sport demo/Swim to Survive activities. Pool Admission Policy applies.  
              - 1:00 PM Lifejacket fitting 
              - 1:30 PM  Lifesaving Sport demonstration & hands-on trial 
              - 2:00 PM  Swim to Survive family lessons every 5 - 10 minutes

1:30 – 2:30 PM: Parent/child Gravity & Cycle Workout in Conditioning Centre (ages 8+)

2:00 – 4:00 PM: Free Family Fun in the Gym 
    - 2:00 – 3:00 PM cross-Canada obstacle course & staff-led activities
    - 3:00 - 4:00 PM open play for families

3:30 PM: Puppet show presented by Canadian Mental Health Association

Please note that all visitors to our YMCA are required to show government-issued photo ID at the Membership Services Desk upon entry. This is an important part of our Child Protection Policy and helps keep children in your community safer - thank you for your patience and understanding.
