The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is proud to participate in National Drowning Prevention Week (NDPW), taking place July 20–26, 2025. Coordinated by the Lifesaving Society, NDPW is a critically important annual campaign that focuses national attention on drowning prevention and water safety education.
YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce Receives $25,000 Seniors Community Grant to Expand Social and Fitness Programming for Older Adults
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is excited to announce it has received $25,000 in funding through the Government of Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant Program to support Thrive Together: Social & Fitness Workshops for Older Adults. This initiative aims to promote healthy aging by offering engaging, accessible programming that supports physical wellness and meaningful social connections.
Facility Improvements at the YMCA
The City of Owen Sound has awarded a contract to Spinton Roofing Ltd. to replace 40,000 sq ft of roofing, including insulation, and install a new membrane that is expected to last 20 years. This investment addresses long-standing leaks and helps protect the future of this community facility.

This critical funding will directly support the YMCA Strong Communities Fund, ensuring that individuals and families in need have access to life-changing YMCA programs through the organization’s financial assistance program.
3rd Annual Cobble Beach 5km Lighthouse Fun Run Unites Community, Raising Over $11,000 for Two Local Charities
The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is excited to celebrate the incredible success of the 3rd Annual Cobble Beach 5km Lighthouse Fun Run, held on April 27, 2025. Blessed with beautiful weather, this vibrant community event brought together 303 participants, with ages ranging from 1 to over 80, showcasing the spirit of connection and support from across Grey Bruce and beyond.
