Job Description

Program/Dept: Health & Wellness

Reports To: Community Health Nurse Supervisor

Type of Employment: Part-time Permanent

Wage: ($28.95 – $36.00)

Hours of Work: 22.5 hours weekly and up to 30 hours weekly

Reporting to the Health Manager, the Community Health Nurse supervises the Health Promotion Team and provides a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services include Client Advocacy, Public Health, Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Injury Prevention. These services are provided to individuals, groups, families and the Neyaashiinigmiing community as a whole. The Community Health Nurse also provides support to those with curative, emergent and urgent needs.

Qualifications

  • Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited Nursing School
  • Licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance Coverage
  • Willingness to provide up to date immunization Record, TB status and medical assessment
  • Willingness to take all reasonable and necessary precautions to ensure personal health and safety as well as that of fellow employee
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation for work purposes
  • Willingness to provide recent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

Equivalencies that include a combination of education and experience may be considered.
