As a charity igniting the potential in people, we are seeking an Employer Liaison and Job Coach works closely with employers and Employment Engagement Specialists to match assisted clients with sustainable jobs and other employment-related capacities within the labour market. The Employer Liaison and Job Coach is knowledgeable about local, regional and provincial labour markets, and is a specialist in the tools required to uncover hidden job market opportunities and the development of jobs for the mutual benefit of the employer and job seeker.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Case Managers and Resource & Information staff to determine possible job placements and other employment-related opportunity matches, that address a client’s abilities, transferable skills, and skill limits.
  • Help to dispel myths or misunderstandings to employers when promoting programs and clients.
  • Market YMCA programs and clients directly to employers using a structured marketing approach (prospecting, needs analysis, selling, follow-up).
  • Work with employers to place, match and job coach clients which could include job carving for customized employment needs.
  • Assess workplace environments and employers to determine overall suitability for client placement, related opportunities, and assess basic workplace safety standards are met.
  • Assist employers to develop training plans and detailed retention plans for clients.
  • Monitor client on-the-job progress and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Coach employers and clients to help ensure job retention and successful outcomes.
  • Identify required financial supports for Client to remove barriers to employment.
  • Understand the Performance Management Model and the Service Quality Standard and its composition, and actively work with the Employment team to attain, maintain, and exceed that standard.
  • Liaise with the Employment Engagement Specialists to implement and make available identified community partner resourcing for clients with identified barriers.
  • Be a local point of contact for employers. Build relationships to understand employer business needs and market Employment Services employer programs.
  • Support employer recruitment efforts and participate in Employment Services employer programs.
  • Provide access to financial supports available through employer programs, assisting with paperwork, monitoring, and flow of funds.
  • Actively participate in business community events to foster and maintain high visibility for the Employment Service and its services.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge about local employers, their business, and what they look for in new employees.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and information sessions for the employer community.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities to promote the YMCA Employment Service to employers, clients, and the broader community.
  • Provide information and training to employers to meet identified training needs.
  • Provide targeted and customized job coaching that provides support for the placement needs and employer identified issues.
  • Maintain client and employer files to YMCA standards and maintains statistical records as required.
  • Liaise with Employer Liaisons from other agencies in the area to foster cooperative relationships and discuss best practices.
  • Participate regularly in regional Employer Support committee meetings to represent local community employer needs and share on the ground labour market information.
  • Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Have current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than ninety (90) days preceding your start date.
  • Have minimum Class G Driver’s License; own vehicle and be willing and able to travel throughout Grey and Bruce Counties.
  • Provide 3 professional references.
  • Have post-secondary education in social services or business.
  • Have two (2) years successful experience in job development or sales/marketing.
  • Have experience using Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Have experience coaching individuals in a human services setting.
  • Have experience and knowledge working with diverse groups and youth at risk.
  • Have familiarity with government employment programs.
  • Have familiarity with Bridges Out of Poverty framework (an asset).
  • Have excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
  • Have accessibility via phone or text after hours for crisis support, specifically related to job retention.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel.
  • Have proficiency in CaMS (Case Management Solution) or similar system, which supports the delivery of client and employer information (an asset).
  • Have strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage crisis situations.
