Job Description
Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA) invites applications for one seasonal position of
Lawn Maintenance primarily located at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area, but providing lawn
maintenance at a variety of Saugeen Conservation properties across the watershed.

Summary of Functions
Lawn maintenance staff report to the Field Operations Coordinator and are responsible for
lawn maintenance of the Sulphur Spring Conservation Area and maintenance of its trails, as
well as other SVCA properties as required.
Qualifications
• Ability to work independently
• Must have valid Ontario Driver’s License (minimum G2) and have experience driving
pick-up truck with trailer
• Ability to perform manual labour outdoors
• Some experience with grounds maintenance and operation of power equipment such as lawn mower, is beneficial
Duties and Responsibilities
• Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Cut grass and perform grass trimming at a variety of SVCA properties
• Maintain grass cutting equipment and lawn maintenance tools
• Assist with grounds maintenance at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area
• Keep Field Operations Coordinator up to date on issues such as vandalism, condition of playground equipment, trails etc
• Abide by all SVCA policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety and use all required PPE
Work Environment and Conditions
All successful applicants must possess their own Green Patch CSA approved safety boots, be
able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available to work the duration of the
season. Some heavy lifting is required. Saugeen Conservation will provide uniform shirts.
Training
SVCA offers comprehensive health and safety training including on the job training for the operation of grounds maintenance equipment, WHIMIS, First Aid, Health and Safety Training.
Location
• Sulphur Spring Conservation Area, and other SVCA properties throughout watershed
Work Period
• May to Labour Day 2025
• 40 hours per week, with availability on weekends and holidays
Wage
• $17.50 per hour
