Our client, a well-established plumbing & heating company who is based in Owen Sound, ON, is currently looking for a Lead Sheet Metal Cutter to assist at their busy Owen Sound location. The Lead Sheet Metal Worker role will be reading and working with blueprints, working within specifications and the building codes, fabricating and assist with the installation of sheet metal and duct work. This is a permanent, full-time role, $32-40 per hour, based on experience.

About The Role
The successful candidate will have a trade certificate, red seal, or have completed an apprenticeship. Will have experience working with sheet metal, reading and working with drawing, be confident and comfortable in their ability to design and install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes within the residential and commercial scopes. Be capable of working in a team environment.
Duties May Include
- Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates
- Develop patterns for sheet metal using computer-assisted design and drafting (CAD) software package
- Operate light metalworking machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Operate computerized laser or plasma cutting equipment to cut sheet metal
- Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment
- Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products such as ventilation shafts, exhaust hoods, eavestroughs, partition frames, air and heat ducts, material handling systems, roof decking and sheet metal buildings
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
- Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
- Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications.
You may be a great fit for this position if you have previous experience as structural metal/platework fabricator and fitter, HVAC service technician, iron worker, boilermaker, gas fitter.
