The City of Owen Sound is seeking candidates for the part-time permanent Maintenance Labourer role. This position’s focus will be assisting in the maintenance of property and facilities within the City and performing custodial duties in some city-owned facilities. This position is expected to work up to 24 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, and post-secondary certification in a related field is considered an asset. The successful candidate will also have at least two (2) years related experience in a facilities maintenance position. Additional required skills include exceptional customer service and demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including HVAC operations and maintenance.
Additional Skills/Competencies/Requirements:
• Valid Driver’s License, with access to a reliable vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract
• Strong understanding and knowledge of facility maintenance, operations and best practices
• Demonstrate Mechanical Aptitude, including HVAC operations and maintenance
• ORFA and TSSA Certifications/Designations would be an asset
• Valid First Aid, CPR and Defibrillator Certification is an asset
• WHMIS Training
• Fuel Handling Training (an asset)
• Fire Extinguisher Training (an asset)
• Asbestos Hazards Training (an asset)
• CH-02 Propane in the Workplace Training (an asset)
• Elevated Platform or Boom Lift Certified
• Working from Heights and Fall Arrest Training
• Strong understanding and knowledge of facility maintenance, operations and best practices
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Ontario Building Code, the Plumbing Code, the Ontario Fire Code, the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and other applicable facilities and safety-related legislation, regulations and guidelines
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems.
