Prior to working at the YMCA in Kincardine, I was a Supervisor of a Group Home for CAS children and Youth Justice Children ages 12-18, I loved the job, but often did not feel supported as the Supervisor, by my supervisor or upper management, the workload was unreasonable and I started to burn out. I decided my quality of life was more important then any job and moved on.
We moved to Kincardine and I have been working for YMCA Child Care in Kincardine since 2012 in various positions. I have always felt supported and a valued part of the team.
As an employee of the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, I appreciate the following:
- High Standards of Care & Inclusivity
- Caring, Respectful & Supportive Team & Management
- Competitive Wages & Benefits
I love my job!!
The Port Elgin YMCA Child Care program has proven time after time that they provide an all inclusive space for families in the community, however did you know that this is not just provided to clients and their children? The YMCA also provides an inclusive space for their staff. After eighteen years of employment at the Y I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2020. Although medication has greatly reduced my risk of seizures, I do still struggle with some triggers in my everyday life. The Y has adapted our child care facility completely to ensure none of those triggers are present and that I am provided a safe work environment.
