Join us as we award Tom Rice and Sonya Mount the King Charles III Coronation Medal for their invaluable contributions to our community, particularly their dedicated leadership as the YMCA Co-Chairs of the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre Capital Campaign.
In early 2024, it was revealed that a Canadian commemorative medal had been created to honor the historic Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on on May 6, 2023. This medal is a tribute to remarkable individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their communities. We are excited to award these well deserving recipients:
Tom Rice – A key leader in Owen Sound Grey Bruce, Tom co-chaired the $6.3M YMCA Capital Campaign for the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre. His 15 years of advocacy, along with his leadership as Past President of the YMCA and OSAC, and his volunteer work with Special Olympics and REACH, have had a profound impact on the community, ensuring inclusivity for all.
Sonya Mount – A dedicated co-chair for the 12-year YMCA Capital Campaign, Sonya helped raise $6.3M for the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre. Her tireless efforts, from volunteer recruitment to donor support, made a significant community impact and ensured the Y’s inclusivity.
Both Tom and Sonya’s exceptional contributions have left a lasting legacy, enhancing the YMCA’s ability to serve and support the community for years to come. We are so grateful for their impact and look forward to formally presenting the medals at the ceremony. Join us to honour these amazing individuals!
